Excerpt:
As she started to step from her car, she noticed a shadow in the background, away from the lights in the pine green forest. Her hand clenched on the door handle. A sheen of sweat broke out and she felt an icy breeze from the North. Was that Ibram? The face was gone. It couldn’t have been. Was he still there in the darkness? Trembling, her car keys tapped a staccato on the lock as she desperately tried to get back into the car. Finally, it slipped in. She slid into the seat, turned the ignition, threw the car into gear, and raced out of the parking lot in one terrified act.
